Having worked as a public defender since 2009, Avi is intimately and frustratingly familiar with our criminal legal system. He previously co-hosted Aider and Abettor with Sajid Khan, a podcast focused on criminal law and culture. Avi maintains a busy trial practice. In his non courtroom-time, Avi is dedicated to engaging in conversations with people working to advance justice and dignity for all. Avi is a graduate of Harvard Law School (a fact Kate wants him to always lead with).

From her work representing clients, to changing California’s felony murder rule, to San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin’s office, and working in the California legislature, Kate has developed a unique perspective on the criminal legal system, fueled by her dedication to justice and public advocacy.
